Day 340

Calm Market, Local SOL Risk

The composite market risk reading is 30 Low today. BTC is at 23 Low and ETH at 26 Low. SOL differs materially from the broad picture at 53 High.

Strong futures selling is being absorbed by spot demand and has barely moved prices. This lowers the immediate probability of a cascade. Confidence in the broad reading remains low at 2/5: it is Sunday, liquidity is limited, and major markets are closed.

BTC ETF outflows have continued for three days. They reached $56.2M on the latest reporting day and $248.4M over three days. Price held steady, open positions barely changed, and spot demand continued to absorb futures selling. This response supports the market, although the quality of that support remains limited.

ETH spot and futures flows were both selling. Price fell only 0.3%, while open positions contracted. Pressure is present, with little impact on price so far.

The main local vulnerability is in SOL. Short-term volatility costs 1.41 times as much as longer-term volatility, and 15% of all options interest is concentrated in the next three days. Spot and futures were selling while price remained stable. The market is absorbing that pressure for now, although SOL remains highly sensitive to a change in flow.

The upside case gains confirmation if spot demand continues to absorb selling after major markets open and BTC ETF outflows stop. The downside case strengthens if selling begins to move BTC and ETH while the high short-term cost of SOL protection persists.

The current picture requires a clear separation between broad market risk and asset-specific risk. The broad market remains Low. SOL is already High and requires separate attention.
