Day 378

Working by the Sea

Open space and the chance to look into the distance seem to have a special effect on my thoughts.

Today was another lighter working day. I sat by the sea, watched the weather change and a flock of ducks fly over the water. Interesting ideas still kept coming to me. Maybe I think differently indoors. Maybe the sea and the mountains on the horizon really do change something.

It is surprising how I can work today. When I used to get tired of working at home, I would go to a coffee shop or a coworking space. Now I can sit on a pier with my legs hanging over the water, put in an earbud and talk to my orchestrator through my phone. We work through tasks without rushing, it passes them on, and things gradually move forward. Meanwhile, my eyes and body are by the sea.

The boundary between work and rest starts to blur here. There may be a trap in that. For now, it feels like a good compromise: I can walk through a forest, look at the water and keep working. Everything happens in the cloud, on a server, through Codex, a phone and an earbud. Soon there may also be glasses that show parts of the work visually.

This future is already here. It will be interesting to read this description of my working day in a year. Even more interesting in five.
